King’s Speech: “Conversion Therapy” |

I spoke in the debate on the King’s Speech in Parliament this week.

The occasion was historic but I had a number of concerns with the speech itself and challenged the government on their agenda.

One particularly concerning omission from the speech was the failure to introduce a ban on LGBT+ “conversion therapy” an abusive and vile practice that does long term harm to people.

The government had promised to do it, with cross party support - but I have grave concerns that LGBT+ people, and the need to end this inhumane practice, are being caught up in a lot of the culture war rhetoric we are seeing.
