Supporting small businesses | Cefnogi busnesau bach

Small businesses are at the heart of our communities and the Small Business Saturday campaign is vital to encourage support for our much-loved independent local businesses here in Wales and across the UK.

We are fortunate to have an incredible variety of local businesses in Cardiff South and Penarth - so I was out and about in Cardiff Bay and the city centre (which is newly part of the constituency) to show my support and hear about the opportunities and challenges for our local businesses.

  •  It's always lovely to pop into Fabulous Welshcakes in Cardiff Bay - and I was able to pick up the perfect gift for my Dad! As well as their signature Welsh cakes, they carry lots of local creative products celebrating our area.

  •  Next up was a visit to ArtHole in the city centre in one of our historic arcades. It’s a vibrant space with fantastic artwork from local and emerging creators, as well as offering a space for young illustrators to connect.

  •  And it was great to visit Tŷ Caws in Castle Arcade and try their delicious range of Welsh cheeses. It was especially good to hear about how they support other local Welsh businesses as well, through local sourcing of everything from their products to their furniture.

I encourage people across Wales to shop locally and support all our wonderful independent small businesses throughout the year. They are the lifeblood of our communities - driving job creation, fostering training and skills development, and boosting economic growth.

Mae busnesau bach yn rhan ganolog o’n cymunedau, ac mae ymgyrch Dydd Sadwrn Busnesau Bach yn gwneud gwaith hollbwysig wrth annog pobl i gefnogi busnesau bach annibynnol yng Nghymru ac ym mhob rhan o’r Deyrnas Unedig.

Rydym ni’n ffodus iawn bod gennym ni gymaint o amrywiaeth o fusnesau lleol yn Ne Caerdydd a Phenarth. Er mwyn dangos fy nghefnogaeth a chael clywed am y cyfleoedd a'r heriau sy’n wynebu ein busnesau lleol, es i am dro i Fae Caerdydd a chanol y ddinas (rhannau newydd o'r etholaeth).

  • Mae hi’n wastad yn braf cael esgus i ymweld â Fabulous Welshcakes ym Mae Caerdydd - prynais i’r anrheg perffaith i fy nhad yno! Maent yn gwerthu pob math o gynnyrch creadigol sy’n dathlu'r ardal leol, heb anghofio eu pice ar y maen enwog.

  •  Y lleoliad nesaf ar y daith oedd ArtHole, sydd wedi ei leoli yn un o'r arcedau hynafol yng nghanol y ddinas.  Dyma leoliad lliwgar sy’n llawn gwaith celf gan artistiaid lleol ac sy’n rhoi cyfle i ddarlunwyr ifanc ddod at ei gilydd.

  • Braf hefyd oedd cael cyfle i ymweld â Tŷ Caws yn Arcêd y Castell, a chael trio eu hamrywiaeth o wahanol gawsiau Cymreig blasus. Roedd hi’n dda clywed hefyd eu bod nhw’n cefnogi busnesau Cymreig eraill drwy brynu popeth yn lleol - eu cynnyrch a’u dodrefn.

Rwy’n annog pobl ym mhob rhan o Gymru i siopa’n lleol, a chefnogi’r holl fusnesau annibynnol arbennig sydd gennym ni yma yng Nghymru, trwy gydol y flwyddyn.  Nhw yw anadl einioes ein cymunedau - maen nhw’n creu swyddi, yn rhoi cyfleoedd i bobl dderbyn hyfforddiant a datblygu eu sgiliau, ac yn rhoi hwb i dwf economaidd.
